Configuration Methods
Powered by a proprietary and intuitive graphical interface, EdgeOS™, every EdgeRouter™ X can easily be configured for the routing, security, and management features required to efficiently run your network. For advanced network professionals, an integrated CLI is available for quick and direct access using familiar commands.
Secure Your Network
Policy rules regarding firewalls can be organized in the order the user specifies. Apply the policies to groups filtered by IP address, network address, or port number. Additionally the EdgeRouter™ changes packet addressing based on your customized source and destination NAT rules.
Advanced Routing Technology for the Masses
With a multitude of capabilities, the EdgeRouter™ provides the centralized control you need to optimize the performance and reliability of your network. It features (5) independent RJ45 Gigabit routing ports, (1) SFP port, and is crafted with a durable metal casing that is as aesthetically attractive as the unit is efficient.
PoE Versatility
The SFP EdgeRouter™ model, the ER‑X‑SFP, is powered by an external power adapter. The (5) Gigabit RJ45 ports support 24V passive PoE output for airMAX or UniFi® devices, while its SFP port provides fiber connectivity to support backhaul applications.
EdgeOS™ – Intuitive User Interface
The EdgeRouter™ provides EdgeOS™ – a sophisticated, graphical user interface loaded with robust features designed for convenient setup and control. This intuitive operating system is easy to learn and makes routing features simple to configure and monitor. Accessed via a network port and web browser, the user-friendly interface provides intuitive management with a virtual view of the ports, displaying physical connectivity, speed, and status. The Dashboard displays detailed statistics: IP information, MTU, transmit and receive speeds, and the status for each physical and virtual interface.
Configuration by CLI
The EdgeRouter™ includes an integrated Command-Line Interface (CLI) for convenient access to advanced functions. The CLI provides quick and flexible configuration by command line and features: configuration and monitoring of all advanced features for power users; direct access to standard Linux tools and shell commands; and CLI access through the serial console port, SSH, Telnet, and the graphical user interface.
